Tomorrow I'll change the Kevin Dobbs calendar page from March to April.
But these three things tucked into the wire cookbook basket beside the calendar will stay there for a while.
They're a reminder of the miracle of spring arriving again but also of two people very special to me on either side of our little granddaughter.
The unicorn card on the left was written to me many years ago by my dear mother, and the card on the right of Japanese cherry trees in bloom is a Christmas card that was once sent to my father from a Japanese business associate.
Isn't it beautiful?
I hope it is as lovely a Spring where you live as it is here in Tennessee this year. As RH and I were out driving yesterday I saw one flowering tree after another, each seeming to outdo the previous one.
I'm going to take time to enjoy Spring and I hope each of you will too, to the upmost!
I enjoy your posts always. Spring is blooming in various areas i have been in lately but not up on our mountain very much. We've been away for a week but I'm going to go to a favorite area and check to see if the daffodils are up yet. This month went by so fast.
ReplyDeleteSandy, RH and I were talking yesterday about how quickly the week had flown by. They seem to go by faster the older we get.
DeleteOur daffodils are past but trees are beginning to flower!
weeks flying by - ...has to be age because now Trash day comes every three days. waiting for our trees to flower too ...my lilac tree outside my window is just beginning to get leaves.
Deletei'm eventually going to come over here and randomly pick posts to read - your blog and way of writing is so enjoyable so it will be like sticking my hand in a treasure trunk and pulling out a post to read.
You are so kind! I appreciate your comment so much!
Deletethat sharing of a love of unicorns. it surpasses time and happenings. it remains magical always. maybe because it's the symbol of living love! and it's fitting to be in the middle of such enchantment... a beautiful child discovering in wonder dew on a "daffydill" (what we used to call them) and the beauty of cherry blossom time in Japan. it's all perfection in that little basket I'd say. XOXO
ReplyDeleteTam, I can't believe this thought has just occurred to me, but it is only today that I thought about Gladys Taber's unicorn when I looked at that card. I'm trying to remember what flower hers fed on. Was it white violets?
DeleteI love that you still have these cards! Flowering trees...that won't be happening here for at least another 6 weeks or so. The only signs of spring we have here are day lilies poking green shoots out of the ground.
ReplyDeleteReally? Another 6 weeks before the flowering trees? I saw on the news this morning that the Japanese cherries were in bloom in Washington, D.C. It was gorgeous!
DeleteWhat is your last average frost date there?
I love those cards and how wonderful that you still have them! Such treasured memories!! We don't have a lot of blooming trees or flowers yet, but hopefully they will be here before too long. We are in bluebonnet season right now...they are everywhere! Love and hugs!
ReplyDeleteBenita, RH would be in hog heaven to see the bluebonnets again! They are such a memory of his childhood.
DeleteSuch beautiful ways to welcome April, with lovely memories of your parents and your adorable granddaughter in the centre.
ReplyDeleteCherry blossoms...I have yet to personally witness their allure, something they are so famous for, but hope to do so in the near future, when I will make a special visit to High Park, here in the city, where they have a very short blooming season, which makes their arrival so anticipatory.
Thanks for sharing your sweet touches of April.
xx

Poppy, I am so late in answering your comment due to a blogging break and then computer problems but I do know that you finally did get to see the most glorious cherry blossoms before you went home. You IG pictures were breathtaking!
