We miss you so much, Daddy.
Thank you for the love you and Mama had.
Thank you for the love you had for your Papa and Mama
and for your big brothers and sisters.
Thank you for your lifelong love of gardening.
Thank you for always loving your four daughters.
Thank you for quoting the words of Winston Churchill at your and Mama's 50th wedding anniversary after battling cancer bravely: "Nevah, nevah give up."
And for speaking to all of us about heaven. You planned on going there and you wanted us to join you there someday. The last words of your 50th wedding anniversary speech, spoken in a voice made difficult to understand because of the scar tissue in your throat from radiation were:
"Be there!"
We'll see you there someday, Daddy.
Love from,
Your Daughters

DeleteHello Dewena,
ReplyDeleteFirst off , before I forget, please forgive me for misspelling your name earlier; just noticed it!:(
Your beautiful tribute to your sweet, gentle faced father, touched my heart today. How wonderful to have such fine memories of your daddy. He sounds like a dad every girl would want! You are truly blessed.
Poppy
Mine is a difficult name, Poppy, and another dear reader spells it that way too which never bothers me a bit!
DeleteYes, I was so blessed in childhood to have the parents I did. Thank you so much!
Do they celebrate Father's Day in Greece? Or something equivalent?
Dewena
Oh Dewena. What a special father! I'm sure he was very happy with four girls and your lovely mother!

Thank you for understanding so sweetly, Tammy.
DeleteThis makes me really happy. Thank you for the post and I wish our family did more of this kind of thing. Especially adding not so easy to find and replicate pictures of loved ones, that once added to a simple site like this will hopefully live for a long time and we can show our children and grand children one day. I miss Grandad. What a guy.
ReplyDeleteRyan
This is my super-talented nephew! Thank you so much, Ryan. You have no idea how much it means to me that you liked this. One of the reasons I want to do this is to leave this record for all of Mama and Daddy's grandchildren and great-grandchildren that come after us. He was a great guy and he came from a truly amazing family.
DeleteMuch love to you and your beautiful fiancé!
This brought tears to my eyes. Such a heartfelt post. I loved all of the old photos, and I loved learning about your Daddy. He sounds like a wonderful person. What a sweet photo of he and your Mother. laurie
