Nora, Sweet Nora

Easter weekend was a cloudy, drizzly one when R.H. and I visited sweet Nora...

The first granddaughter born to us among our grandchildren after four grown grandsons...

You were named for Norah Jones because your mother and father danced to her "Come Away With Me" for the first dance at their wedding.......

A bright light dazzled our eyes as we watched you eat your sweet potatoes, Nora...

And read your books...

And play with your new musical instruments...

And then try out the box they came in for size...

You reached for the bubbles your mommie blew...

And flew down the slide secure in daddy's arms...

And your smiles lit up our world...

Goodbye until next time, sweet Nora...

[Good-bye=contraction of God be with ye.]

This blogger was in a blue funk for days after leaving sweet Nora. Can you blame me?

  1. Nora is as sweet as can be. Isn't it great to finally have a little girl in the family? The exact same thing happened to me. Two sons, three grandsons and then came Sara! And she is all frilly girl...loves link, dolls and sparkle. How I love being around her. Can't wait till our next Tennessee trip.

  2. Very sweet, Dewena! Such a happy little girl. And you and R.H. just glowing. Our oldest grand is 16, so we will have to wait a bit for great-grands.
I like the name Nora. I have a cousin in E Colorado by that name.

  17. oh dewena.
first. her name. to be named from the song your mommy and daddy danced to the first dance of their wedding ... how utterly romantic is that?
    and then
nora ~ that little face reminds me of the wispy haired adorable 'precious moments' tiny people. they just capture your heart. big eyes. tiny button nose.
    and then
    nora in a box
    and then
nora's little hands on her daddy's big hand.
you lucky, lucky dewena and granddaddy. blessings on you real good! xo

  18. Thanks for posting Mom. Nora really is a sweetie. She is so happy to be over her little 2 day bug. I played with her for 45 minutes this morning. We chased the cats around the house and went outside to swing in the hammock. I think she will be up for a road trip to Nashville soon to come see you.

  23. She could not be more adorable. Love that close up of her in the swing and the one with the bubbles. Bubbles are so much fun with babies. I apologize for not coming to visit as I get lost in my garden during this time of year. hugs, Olive
